Miss Paulette

Paulette, an island girl from Haiti, has been cooking, traveling, writing, producing and directing food and travel-related shows for over a decade. She sensed a world existed outside her local village and dreamed of interacting with people in exotic places pictured in her glossy magazines she collected as a child.

Of her five sisters and brother raised in the Haitian countryside, it was her imagination that soared as high as an airplane atop her family’s large backyard. Her life would later include air travel and living abroad. She yearned for other people, cultures and lands.

Paulette made her American debut twenty years ago, and while Manhattan is now her home, she’s never far from her Haitian roots. Organizing and entertaining are among her strengths; she’s in her element while preparing Caribbean and international recipes. Bringing together family, friends and colleagues around a dinner table with a savory meal provides her with never-ending pleasure.

Her love of travel led her to a job in the airline industry, opening the door for her to visit and experience many countries and cultures. Paulette has lived in Paris, Geneva, and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East and Far East.

The next challenge she will meet and excel at is producing and hosting a web show, “Island Girl Kitchen”, on Caribbean Lifestyle Network, that will introduce viewers to new places, cultures and cuisines. Viewers will learn to prepare daily means with an island twist. Paulette has been working in the film and video industry for the past ten years, and through her First Metro Films, she has produced commercials, music videos and directed many short films. She also has a collection of Caribbean videos she narrated. Other branded items include a cookbook, Island Girl Kitchen, Everyday Meal with an Island Twist, plus a line of traditionally blended Caribbean organic herbs and spices available online and in supermarkets soon.

Haitian women and children are important to her, and in 2005, she created a nonprofit organization, The Haiti Wish Children’s Foundation. The immediate and long-term goal is to help women become more independent, and in turn they can take care of their own children. She wants to inspire others to pursue their dreams and live an independent life. As a female entrepreneur, business ownership equals freedom to plant creative seeds and watch them mature into needed services and products viewers and customers will crave.

Paulette earned a degree in Film Video & Art Technology from the City University of New York, and studied film at the New York Film School Academy. She’s now pursuing a degree in Business and Finance.
